Sarah Pennisten

Sarah Pennisten is a mirage. Somehow, I have this last name attached to a Sarah, wife of Thomas Relf. How the surname and the given name became attached to each other is lost in my memory. But with this proposition, that Sarah is indeed a Pennisten, I've begun to research the existence of Pennistens in Indiana. A Sarah Pennisten does not emerge from the mists in Madison County, Indiana, the county of my focus. Thomas, husband of Sarah, was from Madison County, Indiana, and according to the 1880 US Federal Census for Solomon TWP, Norton County, Kansas they are both from Indiana -- it makes sense, it not certainity, that they would both be from Madison County. But sadly, in 1870, Sarah Pennisten is illusive.
